We Dont Bite

We watch how the sun sinks
Behind the world and the way it
finally goes away, and how it helps darkness take hold,
And how it pushes all light away, away towards madness; towards
The end all sanity.

I wake to the darkness gone.
To birds chirping
To the sun melting
To the sun rays beaming
To the cats meowing
To the me creaking
To the fish begging
To the wife goodbying
To the air warming.

My bones are hurting
More than normal;
And memory easily
Reminds me of painless
Days;
Then sadness it smiles,
It looks haughty,
For it knows
It has done its job well.

Its getting close to the day’s end
And the sun has been frightened
Away again. Running behind hills
And oceans and jungles and ice mountains.
Yo Sun! Dont be scared. We
Dont bite!

My Photo

This Morning Through My French Doors

Shadows from the rising sun are playing with my shed.

My cats are roaming outside, sniffing things.

Cars race alongside the creek in my backyard,

As trees sway to a fantastic symphony of birds.

My bathroom blue mat hanging to dry in the sun’s shine.

Sounds of far away things.

A Car zooms by again.

I can’t see the Morning Glories from here but I know they are there.

Airplanes loudly introducing themselves to the sky.

My glorious palm tree is happily sheltering my shed.

Morning Sounds

The morning sounds are alive.

The plastic bottle a clattering musical against the rocky pavement,

The birds up in the trees tweeting away to that very same music.

The leaves are restless and dancing, swirling up up

And away.

Morning sounds all around me,

They’re trying to remind me,

It’s not just all about me.

These Morning Things

From In The Morning I Rise And Other Rise and Shine Poems

A lizard racing up metal fencing

A Cardinal perfectly flying past me

I enjoy these morning things

My heart does too and begins to sing.

The sound of the birds talking out loud

The sunshine reflecting off the morning dew

I enjoy these morning things.

The happiness it brings.

I am awake once more

In a beautiful world

Full of these beautiful

Morning things.

These morning things won’t last forever.

But I know next sunrise

They will be there again

To greet me.
